Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today.

About Storytelling

I am passionate about the practice of storytelling and feel that it is quickly becoming a lost art.  Storytelling is a pure art form that stimulates curiosity and a love for literature and language.  It also allows creativity and imagination to flower.

In one generation, we have become increasingly dependent on technology in every aspect of our lives, from entertainment to education to communications.  While the advances are amazing and wonderful, they also come with a down side, in my opinion.  We have video games, iPads, computers, smart boards and distance learning.  We use e-mail, texting and "tweeting" as our main means of communication, and the phone is quickly becoming obsolete.  If we are not careful, we will become a society that has forgotten how to talk to one another.

I love storytelling, because when I stand in front of an audience, I must communicate using only my voice, my hands, and my facial expressions.  I seldom bring props, pictures, or anything else to a storytelling session because I want the audience to connect with me, focus on the beauty of the spoken word, and exercise their imaginations to the fullest.  What better way to spend time together than with a great story or two that can reconnect us to our heritage, our culture, and each other?
